As an independent, private-pay mobile concierge nursing practice, I offer families a flexible alternative to traditional agencies. Because I operate as a licensed RN under my PLLC, you can trust that your care is professional, consistent, and tailored to your unique needs. I bring nursing support directly to you—where and when it’s needed most.
My services include post-operative care, caring connection calls, wellness visits, wound care, medication management, caregiver respite, music support, and one-on-one nursing assistance during outings or times of need, hospice care, pediatrics, companionship and assistance with activities of daily living. Many clients find that after being discharged from hospitals, rehab, or surgical centers, they still require extra help. I step in to provide that bridge of support—ensuring a safe, smooth recovery and peace of mind for families.

About the Owner
Emerald Thomas, BSN, RN
Founder of Summer Cares, PLLC
Emerald Thomas—known to many as “Summer”—is a U.S. Air Force veteran, a registered nurse, and the visionary behind Summer Cares, PLLC. Her love for nursing began within her own family when she stepped in to care for a loved one recovering from a C-section. With an infected incision and no means to afford private nursing visits, her family needed help. Emerald provided that care, and through this experience discovered her calling: to give compassionate, skilled support to those who might otherwise go without.
The name “Summer Cares” carries both professional and personal meaning. When Emerald first met her husband, he told her she looked pleasant like the summertime. From that moment, “Summer” became her cherished nickname among family and close friends. Today, she has embraced that name as a symbol of warmth, light, and care—the same qualities she brings into every nursing encounter.
With more than 15 years of experience in the nursing field, Emerald has walked alongside patients and families in some of life’s most vulnerable moments. She began her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, advanced to Licensed Vocational Nurse, and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is now completing her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.
Throughout her career, Emerald has served patients across hospice, home health, long-term care, medical-surgical units, and acute care settings. These diverse experiences shaped her ability to meet people where they are—with empathy, skill, and a deep commitment to dignity. Summer Cares was founded to extend that same level of personal, holistic support to families during every stage of life.
To Emerald, nursing is not just a profession—it is her calling and her mission. By blending her clinical expertise with her gift of music, she brings comfort, strength, and encouragement to each person in her care. At Summer Cares, the mission is to nurture the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. Guided by the principle of Romans 12:10, Emerald lives out the belief that true service means being devoted to others in love and honoring each individual with compassion and respect.
